Why I Wear Copper Every Day

New at Just Breathe — my Copper Jewellery Collection

I'm so excited to introduce something new to the Just Breathe shop: a collection of beautiful pure copper jewellery, including thick unisex rings, bangles and anklets — with a men's copper bracelet currently in development.

These pieces are currently available to buy in the Just Breathe shop only, but if you'd like to reserve or pre-order something, please feel free to email me.

But why copper?

Copper is so much more than a beautiful metal — and one of the things I find most fascinating about it is its relationship with electromagnetic frequencies.

Copper is an exceptional conductor and is used for electromagnetic and radio-frequency shielding. It's one of the materials used to create Faraday cages, which can significantly attenuate electromagnetic signals — including frequencies used by technologies such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, depending on the construction and frequency.

We live surrounded by electromagnetic frequencies every day, so I find copper's shielding properties incredibly interesting.

Then there's our own energetic field. Some call it the biofield, others the aura. I personally believe copper works beautifully with our own energy, and this is one of the reasons I love wearing it directly against my skin.

My own experience with copper

This is actually the biggest reason I've chosen to sell copper at Just Breathe: I've experienced the benefits of wearing it myself.

I have an old ankle injury from my years as a gymnast which used to ache regularly. Since I began wearing a copper anklet, my ankle no longer aches. I now wear my copper anklet every single day.

I've also personally noticed aches and discomfort disappear when I've worn copper around my wrists and fingers.

It's become part of my everyday life, so introducing copper jewellery to Just Breathe felt completely natural.

An ancient connection to copper

Our relationship with copper goes back thousands of years.

Copper has historically been used for drinking vessels, water storage and cookware, and copper itself has antimicrobial properties. I find its ancient association with cleansing and purification fascinating.

Copper also appears throughout the Bible. Deuteronomy 8:9 describes a land “out of whose hills you can dig copper,” while Numbers 21:8–9 tells the story of Moses and the bronze/copper serpent.

And in Western alchemical and astrological traditions, copper became known as the metal of Venus — associated with love, beauty, harmony and the feminine. ♀

Interestingly, copper also has an ancient connection with Cyprus, an island sacred to Aphrodite — the Greek counterpart of Venus.

More than jewellery

For me, copper brings together so many things I love — ancient wisdom, energy, symbolism and natural beauty.

But above all, I chose it because I wear it myself and genuinely love how I feel when I wear it.
